UND Women Truck Drivers Academy Graduates Its 2nd Cohort

UND continues to bring qualified drivers into the sector through its training programs carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, and the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR), with certification approved by the Istanbul University Continuing Education Application and Research Center (İÜSEM).

While the first term of the program was conducted exclusively for female candidates, the second term was organized with a quota of 70% female and 30% male participants, in line with UND’s inclusive and equality-oriented approach. Driver candidates from various regions of Türkiye—including Şanlıurfa, Çorum, Afyon, Zonguldak, İzmir, Bursa, Istanbul, Adana, and Mersin—participated in the program.

Participants received training across 20 different topics, including driving and rest periods, the use of UBAK permits and transit documents, documents and contracts used in international transportation, the CMR Convention and insurance legislation, customs, TIR, and anti-smuggling regulations, as well as driver, vehicle, and cargo safety, fatigue and sleep management, healthy nutrition, and personal care.

In addition, specialized training sessions aimed at enhancing driving safety were conducted through sector collaborations. In this context, Prometeon Tire provided a dedicated training session on “Basic Tire Knowledge and the Impact of Tires on Driving Safety.”

TOBBUND also contributed to the program by delivering a comprehensive training session to driver candidates on Transit Facilitation Center (TFC) procedures and operations, covering key procedures, operational workflows, and practical applications that drivers need to be familiar with in international transportation.

For the practical field training conducted at the Autodrom training track, vehicle and trailer support was provided by Mutlular Transport, Logitrans Logistics, and Hüner.

One of the key strengths of the program was the delivery of training by a strong and diverse instructor pool consisting of academics, public institutions, and industry representatives.

Theoretical training sessions were conducted by experts from a wide range of institutions, including Istanbul University, the Traffic Accidents Prevention Association of Türkiye, the Ministry of Trade, the Istanbul Police Department, the Ministry of Health, and leading industry professionals.

UND President Şerafettin Aras emphasized that international truck driving plays a critical role in Türkiye’s logistics sector due to its geopolitical strength and strategic position, highlighting the importance of strengthening vocational training in this field. Aras also expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, and the General Directorate of İŞKUR for their support and contributions to the UND Women Truck Drivers Academy.
